My wife, Kara, has a youtube channel [Cat Repairwoman](https://catrepairwoman.com) where she shares tips and guides for cat owners based on her years as a practicing cat-only veterinarian. A recent topic was about cat weight loss, and understanding how much to feed your cats so I built a food calculator that could be used on desktop or mobile to share while seeing patients in the clinic.

Feeding charts on food bags are broad estimates, and they tend to overfeed. The calculator starts from your cat’s weight, life stage, activity level, and body condition, works out daily calories, and turns them into real portions: cups, cans, or a split between dry and wet food. It switches between pounds and kilograms, and between cups and grams.

Every result gets its own link you can bookmark, print, or send to whoever else feeds the cat.

It gives estimates, not prescriptions. Kittens, cats with medical conditions, and cats on prescription diets should have their plan checked by a vet. [How to use the Cat Food Calculator](https://catrepairwoman.com/how-to-use-cat-food-calculator/) walks through it step by step.
